There are several perks available for people looking to buy an electric/hybrid vehicle. Washington DC, Virginia, and Maryland offer several great incentives.

For example in the District of Columbia (Washington D.C.) electric car buyers would be exempt from vehicle excise taxes. In addition, vehicle registration receives a $36 discount. For those unfamiliar with an excise tax, you are basically taxed for driving on local roads as a resident from the state or county. Excise taxes can be very expensive.
